How to Volunteer

The Volunteer Process -

  • A decision is made by a volunteer to make a commitment to Monroe Clark Middle School.
  • An application is completed through the Parent Center, room 301.
  • During an interview with the volunteer coordinator you will discuss:
    • reasons for volunteering
    • special skills in language, art, or other subjects
    • your additional areas of expertise
    • previous experience
    • choice of student age group
    • times and days available

A Tuberculin clearance is mandatory for all who volunteer at the school site. School volunteers cannot begin to work until tuberculosis clearance is completed. School nurses administer skin tests at the school site without cost to the volunteers. If you have had a clearance in the past four years, a copy may be given to the volunteer coordinator to meet the requirement.

The Parent Center will work with you collaboratively in providing assignments for you according to your interests and availability. The more clearly your jobs and skills are defined, the more rewarding the job will be for you.

A volunteer badge, tour of the school, and school procedures will be provided. You are required to sign in at the Parent Center, and it is important that you wear your name badge at all times. The volunteer coordinator will keep track of your volunteer hours.
