Expectations/Discipline
Homework
Monroe Clark provides each student with an AGENDA to note homework assignments. Please ASK to see your child's agenda EVERY NIGHT . If there is an assignment due, please monitor its completion. If there is nothing written in the agenda, please contact your child's teachers to find out what assignments are not being written down. It is your child's responsibility to write down and complete assignments. It is your responsibility to monitor your child's completion of work due. Extra help is available through the ALC/XDC Program and the Weingart Library has after school tutors available.


Dress Code
All students are expected to exercise good judgment regarding their dress and grooming in order to maintain a positive educational environment and to insure student safety. Monroe Clark Middle School has a mandatory school uniform policy, which has been endorsed by our faculty, the PTA, and our School Governance Team. The "uniform" consists of solid navy blue bottoms and solid white tops. When all students wear this attire, it promotes school spirit, positive attitudes, and student safety. The following are expected standards for student attire:



  • Clothing must be tasteful, clean and in good repair.
  • Footwear must be worn at all times.
  • Pants are to be worn with the waistband at waist level.
  • Shoulder straps must be fastened and worn over the shoulders.
  • Clothing must fit comfortably and not be "oversized".
  • Pants/shorts legs must be hemmed.
  • Shirts/Blouses must have a collar and be tucked in.

The following are not acceptable at school:

  • Hats or headgear of any type
  • Dyed hair or any "in" look which is disruptive to the learning environment
  • Steel-toed shoes, boots, open toed shoes
  • Backless, strapless, low-cut, see-through, tank, spaghetti straps and bare midriff tops
  • Short shorts Gang related clothing, colors, insignias, and belts/belt buckles
  • "Baggies" or "Saggies"
  • Garments with profane or obscene language, pictures, vulgar gestures, racial, ethnic, or sexist slurs
  • Garments that promote violence or messages which encourage the use of drugs, tobacco or alcohol

DRESS CODE INFRACTIONS
Consequences:
First Offense: Parent/Guardian will be notified. Student will be assigned campus clean-up and required to change the attire. If this is not possible, the student will be sent home, with parent permission, to change or adapt the clothing. Headgear and other unacceptable items will be confiscated and released only to the parent.

Second Offense: Parent/guardian will be notified. Student will be required to change the attire. Student will be considered defiant and be assigned a consequence such as, detention, campus cleanup or In-School Suspension.

Third Offense: Parent/guardian will be notified. Student will be suspended.
